The Crisis Centre is a volunteer-driven charitable organization, committed to helping individuals help themselves and others deal with crisis.

Since 1969, the Crisis Centre has provided confidential, non-judgmental emotional support to youth, adults and seniors in distress throughout the province. The Crisis Centre is operated by 375+ highly-trained frontline volunteers who are supported by a small team of professional staff.  We are a safe place to turn when there seems to be no hope.

In 2010, the Crisis Centre impacted the lives of over 75,000 individuals through its programs:

24/7 Distress Phone Services – providing free, one-on-one confidential emotional support and community resource referrals for individuals coping with a range of concerns, including suicide, depression and other mental health issues.

YouthInBC.com – an innovative, Web-based hotline, where youth can connect live, one-on-one with a crisis chat volunteer, obtain email support from professional staff, locate information on different issues and referral services in the community.

Community Education – delivering youth suicide prevention and stress management workshops to teens in grades 8 – 12 throughout the Lower Mainland and Sea-to-Sky Corridor, and providing professional development to a broad audience across BC. This program has also designed and is piloting “Building Resiliency: Learning Through Active Mindful Practices” – a mindfulness-based program targeting middle-school students in grades 6-7.
