Western Canada Career Development Association (WCCDA)
The Western Canada Career Development Association (WCCDA), formerly known as the British Columbia Career Development Association (BCCDA), is a non-profit professional association registered under the Society Act in the Province of British Columbia. Established in 2009 through the merger of the BC Career Management Association and ENET Society, the organization has long served as a provincial certification body for career development professionals. In 2025, WCCDA transitioned its certification responsibilities to the National Certification Team, embracing a unified approach to professional standards across Canada.
I am an active member of WCCDA’s Community Membership (Member #1007). This membership is open to anyone practicing in the career development sector, regardless of role, as well as those with an interest in the field. It provides an opportunity to stay connected with the career development professional community and contribute to the growth of the industry.
WCCDA’s Vision
We envision a future where British Columbia and Canada are recognized for developing, retaining, and supporting a fully engaged, competent, and satisfied labour force:
Where the workforce is flexible and able to adapt readily to economic change and emerging trends in the labour market.
Where every British Columbian and Canadian has a personal Career and Personal Development Plan, and where Career Development is considered and promoted as an essential life/work skill.
Where career practitioners and the continuum of their services are known and understood by, and easily accessible to, all career development stakeholders, including the public, government, practitioners, employers, HR professionals, and referral agencies.
WCCDA’s Mission and Purpose
In support of this vision, WCCDA’s mission and purposes are:
To support and advance career development and employment practices, practitioner professionalism, sector activities, and all endeavors that enhance the career development and employment opportunities of Canadians within the local, national, and global labour markets.
To perform all objectives lawfully incidental, necessary, or conducive to the above purposes, with a primary focus within British Columbia.
